Quotables from the OSHP Annual Seminar 2010
A couple months ago I attended the Oregon Society of Health-System Pharmacists (OSHP) Annual Seminar at the Oregon Coast. I came away with many ideas about pharmacotherapy, leadership and the practice of pharmacy. I'd like to share some of my favorite quotes from the Saturday sessions.
From Sara White MS FASHP talk on leadership:
"Every pharmacist is a little 'l' leader."
"Management is about ensuring right things are done correctly."
"If there were no rules what would you do, how would you contribute?"
"Sometimes, it's easier to get forgiveness than permission."
"It doesn't matter how many research articles you can spout off in defense of an action... if you piss someone off they'll never listen to you."
"Learn to influence up."
"Make it easy for those in charge to say yes."
Anonymous on Health Care reform:
"Change is a freight train; either you get on-board or your grit in the wheel."
"Stay tuned and be engaged."
Ali Olyaei PharmD BCPS:
"Good drugs are like UFOs; it sounds good but you've never seen one!"
